I'm trying to send off a mainsail by Parcelforce. Its a nightmare. You are asked to use their internet system. This demands you turn off pop up prevention and even then it crashes partway through the process.
The phone system has one of those press 1 for etc.
The sail has to be insured. OK the insurance documents and the necessary sticky labels will come with the collecting driver - who has an all day slot so I have to stay in.
The guy comes - no insurance documents. I'm supposed to let an expensive sail disappear into an outfit with real image problems when they havent sent out the documents they promised.
I sent the poor guy away - it wasnt his fault -perfectly pleasant fellow. On the phone - great apologies - pick up tomorrow - sometime during the day. Whats the betting he wont have the documents tomorrow either - aaarghh!

I'm lucky I've got a parcelforce depot just down the road much easier to drop things off and pick them up when the "youweren'tin" post card is dropped through the door.
Mind you on reflection that rather defeats the object.
There must be a better solution,DHL,UPS?

If it can't be fixed with a lump hammer dont fit it!

You could try one of the other carriers, i have had enough of ParcelFarce and am using City Link who are cheaper and quicker from what I can tell.

Avoid like the plague!

ParcelForce are next to useless. I've had so much trouble with them that, when ordering stuff over the net or by phone, I now check that ParcelForce won't be the carrier. Otherwise, I won't order.

My brother used to work for Parcelforce and he was so disenchanted at working for a bunch of cowboys that he started his own courier business out of Portsmouth, now he's happy as a pig in poo!!!!.......any one needs a courier based portsmouth PM me, and i will give you his e mail addy, as i won't solicit on the forum..........cheers........keith

I'm the same as pvb. If I place an order either by phone or over the net, I check on the courier. If it's Parcel Force I cancel the order and I tell them why.

We use Parcelforce as one of our carriers. I have to say that if you think they're bad you should try some of the other offerings. City Link were particularly bad. In our office they are known as Shitty Stink.

Read your post with dread last night. Dabs emailed me to confirm that they'd despatched my new printer. They used Amtrak last time, delvered to the wrong address, house owner is believed to have kept about £500 worth of network stuff. Had forgotten the angst because I hadn't bought much online for 6 months or so.

8.45 this morning, cheery chap from, yes, ParcelForce arrives. Marvellous.

Rant on. A £530 printer from Canon. Comes with some free postcard size bits of photo paper, a free printable CD (r not rw). AND NO USB2 OR FIREWIRE CABLE. So, no printing today. Sorry client. For £530, bloody hell, I'm so angry. Rant off.

I would agree with everyone about Parcel Force - we were amazed last week when we ordered and were promised 1st class mail delivery (our postmen are terrific) only to discover they had despatched by PF. Amazingly - first time ever I think - they did deliver.

Don't use Amtrak - we have cancelled our account - many items disappear in transit, especially valuable ones like a new laptop and laser printer. They also took 4 days to turn up to collect an urgent despatch when we had an account with them.

Best to date CityLink although that's only after giving the driver a b*****king when they failed to turn up one day.

Considered sending your sail to someone local and deliverying it ?

At one time, no printer was ever supplied with a printer cable, cause prices were so competitive in this area that the cable made the difference between profit and loss. Nowadays some (e.g. Brother and HP do supply a USB cable (at least they did with the printers I have)

I've 'only' bought six (iirc) over 12 years, 4 HPs and this is the second Canon, and I know they all came with pll cables because I've still got them all.

I broke my vow never to buy Canon again (ink - you don't want to know).

I'm waiting on a call from their marketing dpeartment, will let you know.

The only time I have had the misfortune to use a canon, I vowed never to have another. Nothing to do with the ink, but a nightmare to get the paper to feed properly. I have a B&W laser Brother which I think is excellent. Toner costs are much less than a cheap samsung I bought for my boy. Colour is a HP duplex printer, originally bought to be used for all printing requirements, but ink costs forced the purchase of the laser.

I have loved all the HPs. My Lj4l is 11 yrs old, on it's original cartridge, refilled once.

I broke my vow because this one (Canon i9950) prints directly onto CDs. Kids think I'm cool again. Could have got an HP A3 with wifi for £230. And a cheap Canon for the CDs.

I feel a bit of a prat now. Boatone told me so.

Customer service just called. They're sending me one 'as a one-off courtesy measure'.

Marketing say that they don't list what is and what is not included on their website 'because of space'. Went on to say that I should assume that if it's not mentioned, then it's not supplied. Were I to buy it in a shop, a representative would point the omission out, and sell me one 'because it enhances their profit margin'. (Wonder when they were last in PCWorld - a representative - know something?)

I asked why they'd included the power cable without mentioning it.

Sorry, thread hijacked. Cross and no-one to talk to.

Re: Avoid like the plague!

I do the same with City Link as they wo n't leave with a neighbour and there depot is 20 miles away in the middle of nowhere. If I pay for delivery I do n't expect to get it myself, and I expect better service than that.

IMHO DHL & Fedex are efficient and knowing that you can trace and determine where your item is at all times and whether it's been delivered etc is well worth the 'extra' money involved. This applies not only to the UK but I use them worldwide no complaints at all.
For the price of a new sail what's an extra £10.00 - £20.00?

If work was so good, the rich would have kept more of it for themselves.

Re: Parcel Force grief (semi boaty)part 2

Parcel force man duly arrived today without insurance document and without printed labels - presumably to give an extr opportunity for losing parcel. I refused to releace parcel to them. I was very soon afterwards rung by Parcelforce lady from Exeter. Oh no we never giv a written confirmation of insurance to a specific value but the collection guy will tick a box to say you have "level 2 compensation"
What sort of use is that in a legal battle? "No-one has ever complained before" - quote from the lady.
I eventually decided to cancel having lost all confidence in the system. "That'll be a £3.50 cancellation charge. I carefully explained that over the phone the position had been misrepresented and written proof of insurance was basic to the contract. The charge was gaciously waived!
Whats the betting the whole cost of the shipment is on my VISA bill when I get it?
