Last winter I made up a manifold using brass 3/8" BSP fittings, using elbows, tees and nipples.
Where I could, I used Parallel to Parallel male and female threads, with Dowty washers, the connections are OK no leaks, but I did find it difficult to line the tees up.
In few cases I finished up with tapered BSP male fitting and parallel BSP female fittings which I made up with PFTE tape.
Initially these seemed OK, but over the course of the season they have leaked, very slightly. You can see the leaks, where the PTFE tape is now pink around the joint, the red dye in the diesel has stained the tape. I found it impossible to get the joint to make up tight and get the tees pointing in the right direct, and as soon as you back the joint off a little, to line the tee up, it seems to leak, just a little bit.
I'd like to make a better job of it over this winter, so can anyone recommend a jointing compound which will seal brass BSP tapered to Parallel joints and allow enough play to line tees up?
