In our Dartsailer we have a Perkins 4108 with a Paragon P24L gearbox. This gearbox drags. In neutral the boat moves forward. It is not possible to adjust the control so that this does not happen. Very annoying when mooring.
I have now taken the gearbox out and find no mechanical defects. No warped clutch discs, return spring is in good condition and so are the bearings.
I know that a multi disc wet clutch will always drag a little, but is there anything I could do to reduce this?
Oil is ATF, are there any vicosity grades in this stuff?
I do have the Paragon operators manual, is there any other, more detailed, workshop manual available?
Suggestions welcome!
