\"Paraffin Extra\" for Taylors

Thought I would try Caldo Paraffiin Extra in my Taylors and the cabin lights - supposed to be particularly low oder etc.

Caldo can't tell me where it can be bought from /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif and their best suggestion is a wholesaler on the Isle of Wight -the latter will supply me a pallet full and I only want one can.

Does anyone know where I can buy a small quantity - either local to Chichester or mail order?

Nothing to do with Caldo paraffin (other than a wry smikle that the manufacturer doesn't know wher you can get it) as I use B&Q's finest in my Taylors but a question. I noticed a picture of your Tamarisk with beaching legs. I am thinking of making some so my question is was there any need to strengthen things in way of the attachment points or did you just drill straight through the bulwarks et al?

Re: \"Paraffin Extra\" for Taylors

Hi John - I just went straight through the bulkhead. I reckoned that there was about 1/2" of Iroko then 1/4" of glass and then another 1/2" of Iroko on the inside which seemed reasonably well supported to me. I used a 3 x3" ply pad under a very large washer on the inside.

It is amazing that Caldo apparently don't know who sells their products. He couldn't wait to get me off the phone. I should probably not reward them by trying to find a distributor but as Taylors themselves recommend the stuff, I would quite like to give it a go.

Try your local airport and see if you can purchase some A1 Jet fuel it is basically pure kerosene and will work in your Taylors Ace.
May be you will have to convince them you run a model Gas Turbine.
Hope this helps.
Cheers David.

If you are really struggling i live not far from Caldo in St Helens i could get some and post it.
But it will cost more to post than it's worth.
A 4ltr can will be over 4kg packaged up.

I used to use a couple of oil lamps for lighting. These were the wicking variety, rather than pressure burners.

If I could afford it, 'lamp oil' was much better than garden-centre kero. Less odor and less smoke.
