I please to say I just got mind through for this year
and it's not gone up one cent .

Even with the increase mine was still cheaper by quite a bit than the Pants quote

Mine was the same but cost me a boat survey which cost £375 plus new rigging, guard rail wires and STP cock. I expect to be£1500 down

Whatever then price, the service from Pants was brilliant. I’ve written about it before so won’t repeat. But I was delighted that they were in my corner when things went wrong. That’s exactly what I want from an insurance company.

The only time anyone going to know if there are paying over the top or not , is time time you need to make a claim ,
Then it's too late .
A freind of my Terry who Jorden know as well , the first year insurance with pants he picked up a rope and demolish his saildrive , pants payed up no problem and quickly .
two years later he hit a rock in Greece damaged his keel , 32K again no hassle , they paid up , his insurance hasn't done up to that point .
So yes I maybe paying more but if I am I happy to do so .
By when I brought the boat I have now thre years ago there where happy for me to self survey and since then there been on increased in my insurance .

I was with Pants because of S/H for Biscay but the increase this year was too much​, so I switched. I asked about S/H for Biscay and they said no problems if you take rest breaks!

The reason I started with Pants so many years ago (20 plus ) was do just that , I was solo at the time and needed to cross Biscay .
Question to you ladyinred , have you made a claim lately?
I ask because a few here in the pass have said Pants have increased their insurance but looking back for the time I have the boat I have now , three years there been on increased.

A good point, I did make a claim in 2016 after the solar panels came into contact with the Wind Gen.
TBO it was hardly worth making a claim, as the excess absorbed most of the cost.

Conversation on insurance come up a lot in the liveaboard and full time cruiser world ,
And I keep hearing how expensive pants it comparing to other , but every time I ask people how much they pay and what they get for that , there very rarely much difference to what I pay .
And as said mine not gone up in three years .

I know three boats that use Pantaenius and were damaged in Grenada by hurricane Ivan, the surveyor arrived on the first plane in and the clains were paid one week later.
