Neighbour asked me to drain his engines when boat came out of water... no problem.

Then I look to the corner of the engine bay and remember there's a generator there! It's a Panda-Fischer, don't know the model but think it's a 4Kw. Can anyone direct me to the raw water drain points? I'm about to get googling for the user manual but thought i'd ask here too.

Thanks folks

4kw is probably Faryman 18w engine..

I have one in my gennie - as far as I know, there are no drain cocks. Stick some antifreeze (50/50 mix) in the raw water strainer, start engine and suck it through. Stop engine, remove impeller.

Don't forget with these engines, when you turn them off, they tend to run on for up to 10 secs, so make sure you have an ample supply of antifreeze to pour into the strainer.

The manual simply says:

NOTE!
If there is a danger of frost during the process of
decommissioning, remove water from the cooling
system by undoing the screws (1) of the cooling
water pump cover (2).

i.e just take the cover off the raw water pump :)

I just flush through with 50/50 anti freeze ,using a cut mountain bike inner tube fitted over the ( closed to sea ) seacock .
First rince out the salt with normal water .,then soapy water to gauge the time interval from poring in to - exhaust hole in the side of the boat ,then add the antifreeze mix -shut down
Prob with drain off in my mind is this --- why allow air in after salt = corrosion ,not so good if that " air " ends up in the cylinder through an opened valve ( from the water cooled exhaust manifold)
Or I,am I just reading too much into this whole thing?
Although in the Med ie no chance of real subzero temps ,I don,t like the idea of leaving it sitting in saltwater for 5 months ,
So decommission it .
10y on the little Farryman is still sweet .
