anyone out there been through panama recently? what's it like going through independently?

wondered about joining a rally to get the support for the canal but would prefer do go my own way.

You might try posting this on the US <A target="_blank" HREF=http://old.cruisingworld.com/forums/genlmesg/index.pl>Cruising World Board</A>, or even search through the archives there. There were a number of reports of Panama transits in 2002.

went through 5 or 6 years ago no serious problems but would recomend that you collect some medium sized tires at the various stops you,ll make before arrival at panama.... put the tires in a couple of heavy duty plastic garbage bags for use as fenders.. also approaches to panama can be very hectic 20 or 30 ships suddenly outbound while you are inbound so time your arrival for daylight.... safe passage and fair winds Brock
