I'm off to Palma Monday to seek employment onboard a nice motoryacht. Is anyone on the forum a Palma local or does anyone have any suggestions of places to get known etc.

Good Luck. Isn't Russell Brenton based in Majorca?. He is a regular on here.

Unfortunately the crew quarters on the Bayliner 2855 are probably not adequate for the two of you so I cannot offer you any work! (On the other hand I may need someone to island hop it from the mainland to Majorca / Menorca ? How are you fixed)

Regards

Give Fred Dovaston a ring when you arrive (0034 971 677375), he is the biggest and best crew agency around. Apart from that it is just a matter of walking the quays I'm afraid, you should aim to be in the marinas and shipyards by about 8:30, (I would start with the Club de Mar). It is still a little early for the majority of boats to be back from cruising but they will all filter in during the next couple of weeks. I will keep your numbers handy and call you if any suitable jobs come in.

Hope it works out!

as russell says, walk the pontoons inthe mornings, register with crew agencies and be specific about what you want, mingle in the bars and leave little tear-off strips on noticeboards. HINT for pontoon walkers - Look The Part- so don't wander around late in the day- looks as tho you get up very late - anytime from 8ish onwards, don't interrupt if an obvious charter is going on (= loaded breakfast table), get a decent haircut etc etc.

Hi Med Dreamer,

Do you not Fancy hoping it across yourself! It is great fun with a single engine, especially when you are two hours out and 65 miles from shore! Are you really taking it out there then?
