Because they don't like the idea of boats on anchor outside their marina saving money staying on anchor rather than paying marina fees and then still using their facilities.

Hello again Mike,
We are leaving the jet ski behind in Sant Carles and using a dinghy as tender. I spoke to the marina in El Arsenal and they
charge €60 a night for my boat so seems reasonable to be so close to the airport. Hopefully I see you in the bar in Sant Carles to get some more tips. Regards Nick

Excellent! Have a great trip over, we'll come and say hi. My kids are 8 and 10, so they'll love to see some others to snorkel with. I'm really looking forward to it!

One more question.
Why do so few marinas in the Balearics publish their visitor daily rates. Are they trying to discourage visitors or is there another reason. Some do but most don’t publish the rates.

I agree. My ex wife took our s65 to portals in August. For that length it is a 25m berth I think. The daily rate as I recall including tax started with an 8!!!
My s58 In most places ( not portals ) is 2-250 a night. You get used to it but when you reflect on the fact that would get you a nice hotel room it is daft.

The prices must have gone up in Mallorca! last time we were there 3 years ago we could do Cala D Or for 120 euros a night for 18m worst place was Soller forgetting Portals of course which is a rip off.
We are currently in Empuribrava and paying 120 euros but enter France and its around 80 euros a night, the food and drinks are much more expensive in France but the berths are cheap!
