If the boat is protected via an RCD, switching things on/off may not find the problem, it could be a few items on your boat that are giving small leakages to earth, that when enough of them are switched on, the leakage is enough to trip the RCD, it could be any combination of equipment that trips the RCD……..I do this for a job and it’s ball ache finding the piece of equipment that is starting to age and putting more electricity to earth.
OK - but wouldn't you start by switching everything off to see if one item trips the RCD.
Switching things on then off until you find one thing that trips it every time.
I understand that you might not get to that situation but wouldn't it be a good place to start?

100% yes, it could be one item that is causing the tripping and an easy find 👍

I take your point though.
My son had an intermittent problem that we couldn't track down - because it WAS intermittent.
Eventually, he changed part of his upstairs ring and the problem became a permanent failure.
So, before it "fixed itself" we isolated parts of his downstairs ring - eventually finding the problem in one leg of that ring.
Now that leg has been isolated and replaced there are no more intermittent problems.
I guess that a professional electrician would have been chasing that problem for a long time as well.

Anyway, I fully understand your comments.
