These are made for kayakers but look very suitable for wear under waterproofs in warmer climes. Has anyone tried one? About £90 or so they look good value. A Musto mid layer equivalent is nearly £300! Comments please.
Dunno the Palm one, but their products are generally well enough regarded.
I have an undersuit intended for scuba diving with a drysuit. It is excellent and cost less than £90, but it was on sale at Andark.
Basic fleece romper suits for under dinghy drysuits are not expensive and come in various levels of 'fluffy' when new.
Last drysuit I bought for dinghies was about £250 with a fleece undersuit included.
I find a moderately thin one piece plus a baselayer and an old fleece jumper is good for winter dinghy sailing. But sat still on a yacht for 10 hours I would wear more.
For early season safety boat duty I wear an oily jacket over the top.
It is always worth looking at other watersports retailers, kayak, diving, fishing even.
Also high street places like Mountain Warehouse do some OK baselayer/rashvest things sometimes.
But when the heavy spray is coming at you in cold green lumps, a well designed hood/collar/neck area is critical and nobody will be laughing at you for having Musto in my experience.
I know several kayaker friends who seem to like them - they're meant to be pretty toasty.
I've got lots of Palm kayaking gear, I wouldn't recommend their drysuits but other pieces of kit are OK.
Cheaper alternative onesies are available too, have a look at Lomo or Typhoon.
