I wish to paint the lockers on my old boat. Unfortunately previous owners have lined the lockers with material which has time expired. This material lining has now been removed but has left a sticky residue of adhesive. I have tried every type of adhesive remover I can find but have found it impossible to remove this adhesive residue. Is there a paint or coating that I can apply to the lockers to stabilize the adhesive residue in order that I can paint with coventional paints.

Do be aware of the SERIOUS HEALTH RISKS of working with toluene or similar thinners in confined spaces.

You will join the ranks of the glue sniffers, high as a kite with a wrecked liver.

One of the best products I have come across for this sort of problem is called GOOF-OFF but it almost certainly contains stuff that makes you high.
