I 've taken down the mast of my Mirage in order to replace the forestay. This entailed removing the Plastimo 608-S roller-reefing drum and while it was off I thought that I'd take the opportunity to service it. I've now dismantled it (fear not, I have not lost any bearings) and despite having cleaned the plastic bits in the dish washer it is still looking a bit tired. I thought that I might smarten it up a bit by painting it while it was apart but here is my question - what is the best paint for the job? I don't really want to spend a fortune and will only require a small amount but I would be interested to know what paints are suitable for plastic fittings open to the weather.

I painted a stripe on the side of the boat to brighten up the existing one and used acrylic water based paint from Aldi , said on the tin suitable for plastic surfaces.
