I am unable to get any paint, glass fibre or epoxy to bond to an Iroco Dog house frame or to seal the joints to Marine Ply. I have tried to go over the surface with a Spirit but it all peels away. It bonds much better on the inside but still not good. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

I have a wooden yacht built of iroko which is successfully painted, has some epoxy fillets etc. Only time I have had adhesion problems has been when it has been too damp. When you paint, what primer are you using?

A bit more sanding sounds the order of the day, then as PCUK says, wash down with thinners. When that has fully dried, dilute your primer 50/50 and do a couple of coats (drying between each) so that it soaks in and give you a really good base to paint on. Try to do this on a warm, dry day, if you can. Dry is more important than warm but make sure its going to stay +5C for enough hours for the paint to get to touch dry.

Thanks for all of your replies they all point in the same direction. I will get on with the sanding and then the thinners and see how that goes
