Painting glass.

I know this should be in poverty boat owners, but whatever.

Debs boat has a sort of sky light. The glass covers the wood at the bottom. It needs varnishishing. But I cheated cos that means removing the double glasing units, so I painted the bit of glass with hammeright, gulp! But it flackes off. Would tile paint do the job???

I think cellulose paint would stick.

Tile paint should stick, it's designed to etch the surface.

you can get special spray paint that makes clear glass frosted, translucent. Probly won't be an option now yerv cacked it up with the wrong paint. Glass is v smooth of course and heats up and contracts a fair bit so you need to paint it very very thinly, whatever you use.

Visit your local art or craft shop. Paint specifically for glass is available, it is often sold in glass painting kits, intended to be used by the small to make pressies for Mum/Gran etc.

Its pretty thick stuff.

I wouldn't paint it; it rarely works and, if you can see it from inside the boat it will look awful. Use self adhesive vinyl. If you want a subtle effect go for "frosted glass" vinyl.

Cant see it from inside, the hamerite looked fine, till it fell off!!
