Hi, just received the new riser and manifold and am surprised to see the mating faces have been painted.. I presume this needs removing down to bare metal before fitting new gaskets?
Are you always so lucky?
Probably an inclusion in the casting knocked out by the milling machine or a void which has been filled.
Sounds like you may have a porous casting. Are you always so lucky?
That's nothing. The last manifold I fitted they'd forgotten to drill the hole that injects the water. Oops!ok, paint removed from all mating surfaces and am shocked to find what looks to be a brazed/welded fill using a yeloowis metal to a hole in the riser mating surface by one of the bolt holes.. the exhaust manifold also has pitting near one of the inlet holeshave sent an email to Trickett Marine!
