Hi, just received the new riser and manifold and am surprised to see the mating faces have been painted.. I presume this needs removing down to bare metal before fitting new gaskets?

ok, paint removed from all mating surfaces and am shocked to find what looks to be a brazed/welded fill using a yeloowis metal to a hole in the riser mating surface by one of the bolt holes.. the exhaust manifold also has pitting near one of the inlet holes:eek: have sent an email to Trickett Marine!

Probably an inclusion in the casting knocked out by the milling machine or a void which has been filled.

Sounds like you may have a porous casting. Are you always so lucky?

have received a promising and prompt reply from Trickett Marine this morning at 8:30 apologising and concurring it's likely to be part of a bad batch offering full refund and collection... seems they are also chastising their supplier.

I've asked for a replacement instead from a defect free batch as I need the parts asap.

It would appear that Trickett value good customer service. mistakes happen, it's how they're dealt with when they become known:cool: Maybe I'm lucky to have chosen this supplier after all:)

cheers Gary

That's nothing. The last manifold I fitted they'd forgotten to drill the hole that injects the water. Oops!

Good Service from Trickket Marine

well, all sorted... have spoken to Paula in Trickett Marine, lovely lady, who will ship out a replacement riser after they remove the paint and check for themselves that the mating face is sound.. No manifold available for replacement unfortunately so that's going to be a return and refund job once collected on Friday... clearly the manufacturers fault in the first instance for shipping a bodged riser and defective manifold and Trickett Marine have done everything in their power to resolve the issue as far as I am concerned.. well done Paula and the team, impressive customer service and I'd certainly not hesitate to use them again!!!
