Hi everyone, I have a MD2010 volvo penta in my boat, the smallest in the range. As part of my winter maintenance, I want to clean off areas of flaking paint (mainly on the alloy casing at the front) and repaint it. I called up Volvo, who after a bit of catalog searching anounced they could order in and sell me a 1 litre can. Well since this is enough to paint my entire engine about 20 times over, I have not yet bought it.

My question to the forum is are there any Volvo penta owners (in and around Chichester/Portsmouth/Southampton area or even Lymington to Poole) who could do with a 1/4 litre of genuine heatproof turquoise volvo paint for engine maintenance?

First three replies get their 1/4 litre of touchup paint at £8.00
(of course I'm keeping 250ml for myself). First come first served.

Just so as you know the 1 litre costs £31.57 inc VAT (I'm not making on this, just want a smaller amount than they sell).

Include your e_mail or phone number so that I can get in touch. Kind regards, Ian.

Some random comments

Someone posted some equivalent car paint colour numbers for Volvo green on this forum a while back. Might be worth a search. (google site:ybw.com etc...)

I bought a volvo paint spray can over the Summer to paint a new water pump. I was a bit gobsmacked that they can sell on an oem part from another manufacturer at triple the price and not even bother to paint it green!

There's was nothing on the can to suggest it was heat proof. However it has a gloss finish rather than the original matt finish on the engine.

You will need a can of degreaser and a rust inhibitor unless you want to paint it every year!

Sounds like a good idea: would you post some to me (UK mainland)? I'll pay P&P in addition to my share

>>Car paint codes<<

If you take anything the right colour (Oil filler cap??) to a car paint supplier, they will match it perfectly in any of several different types of paint. They are experts in this. They will even fill it into an aerosol can for you - was about £6-£7 a can for what they called "2 pack" last time I bought some (it wasn't a 2 component mix, but did have a lot of warnings about breathing it in). Very easy to apply (much, much better than Halfords equivalent), and incredibly tough. Organic vapour mask essential in confined spaces - they will sell you disposable ones of these, too.

Unfortunately my local shop shut a few years ago, but if you go to any "back street" garage, they will tell you where they get the paint from.

Sorry to hijack the original thread!

They sell the small tins of Volvo green paint at the Volvo spares place at Bursledon Bridge on the Hamble. Its wasn't very expensive.I bought a tin about five years ago and am still using it.
