A good mate has painted his Firdel Blipper a violent shade of fluorescent orange. He says it helps to find his boat when he parks it in a strange marina,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
He might have a point... Given that reflectors are less than efficient at least the cook on that freighter on a collision course might spot you/him/me when he steps out of the galley for a pee,,,,,,
So what do we think? Will paint further degrade the performance of the white elephant up the mast? If not, then what colour is best? Should I include reflective tape?

it wont hurt the plastic, or the lack of ability of these units to help a ship to run you down. Why put reflective stickers on the blipper when you can put it down the mast or like l have on the top or bottom of the spreaders.

Funny thing, despite the bad press I've always found Blippers show up quite nicely on my radar. Better than some other types anyway.

If you are worried then you might instead try painting your mast a violent shade of fluorescent orange. Then it would not only show up your yot from the rest of the pack, but also from your mate's.

That works! Painting the whole mast was a bridge too far for me, but I put the dutch national colours with a height of 4 ft in the upper part of the mast by sticking coloured folies around the profile. In any marina I find my boat within a moment. The only drawback is that you see so easily how small this mast is compard to the others.....
