...I've made a lot of them, with the help of shop clerks.

Now... I want a good white paint -- something that dries super hard and can be used inside an GRP icebox and in the forepeak over both GRP and plywood.

Do I want two or three types of paint or is there one that will do the job?

There are some well known brands here, but I might not be able to get what you get there, so maybe the type of paint would be helpful, too.

cheers and thanks

IMHO ... you have some issues that the paint may have a problem with .... you want a superhard paint ... no problem - most Two-Pack paints are superhard ... Epoxy or Poly based ... but that hardness may be its downfall ....

ie. Plywood ... and especially if it adjoins GRP or another material ... the expansion / contraction coeficients being different may crack or craze the paint at the joint. You may even find the paint itself may crack OVER the single material ..

BUT ... I would plump for a good Two-Part Epoxy based paint or the Two Part Poly ..... available from International / Blakes / Jotun etc. - you may even be able to find with general Paint Brands - but would take a bit more finding ???

G'day Jimbim,

Have you considered using a flow coat? a mixture of resin and pigment available in standard and epoxy resins, very durable finish with a nice gloss. The makers have improved flow coats over years and even add "soft fillers" that allow the cured product to flex more without cracking.

Avagoodweekend......
