Engine and tanks out and clean up about to happen. I see that some say paint with 2 pack. Never used it. What do you think?

How well does Danboline cope with a flaky surface? Our lockers need doing but the original coating is flaky in places but too well attached to remove.

Provided it is clean and free of oil then Danboline will work. It is made for bilges and is more tolerant of imperfect surfaces than other paints.

Personally I'd go two pack after properly preparing the surfaces, given that all the stuff that's usually in the way is out of the way.

I've seen many photos of newly painted things on these forums, but rarely do we see the long term shots. In my experience single part paints don't last nearly as well and end up being a repeating maintenance task. Two pack paints are more like gelcoat and will generally last until damaged.

I take your point and I had similar concerns when deciding what to use in the engine bay of our Targa and went with Danboline having sought advice. We ensured that we thoroughly de-greased and the Danboline took well and showed no signs of failing during the subsequent three years that we kept the boat. We sold to people we know and they didn't experience any problems and in subsequent years I have occasionally bumped into different owners and all has appeared to be well.

That wasn't aimed at your post by the way, I've said it many times on the forum in paint discussions as a general point of "everything looks nice when it's new" :)
I didn’t take it that way but I appreciate you clarifying 😁

Just thought I would share how it worked out for us because you are quite right, it looks nice and shiny immediately after application but the real question is how does it stand up several years down the line.
.

Everything below the waterline on my GH is finished in grey Danboline and although parts have been refreshed, the section iof the bilge in this photo is original from 1979. Danboline is still do popular and available because it is one of those products that performs as claimed.

Danboline is fine but you must be rich, I used good old garage floor paint, greas proof, oil proof, water proof and much cheaper and also lasts for years, before and after 2 years later
