I had to split my rudder open over the winter to make repairs to the shaft/tangs. The two sides of the ruder were taken back to bare GRP. After revuilding the rudder has been given a skim of fairing compound and epoxy...is it OK just to go for 7 coats of VC Tar or is some other coating needed?
