I never seem to have trouble with padlocks. I have a pair of cheap jobs from a DIY store for the cockpit lockers which are working without attention after maybe 15 years, replacing ancient ones that the engineers lost the keys of. I have misgivings about the main hatch lock which is integral to the upper washboard. I know that if someone decided to break in they would make a right mess of the hatch and board.
