I just bought a S/H pactor 2e and will want to connect to an Icom 802. First I guess I will need to connect to my small netbook (Samsung N110) running widows XP will the netbook recognise the modem or will I have to get drivers from somewhere?

Thanks for any help

Pactor

wow

"Interestingly, as the cost of PACTOR keeps going up, there is a marked increase in other modes, such as PSK-31, JT-65, and others. Most are involved in direct QSO's, at a speed that's much slower than PACTOR. What these modes have in common is that the cost is mostly FREE."

The Pactor IIe uses a 232 connection and maybe your notepad only has USB. In this case you will need a usb adaptor and that will need a driver which is usually located on the web and found and installed easily.

The adaptor is something like this.

Your Pactor manual can be found here.

The Airmail or Winlink software you use for E mails and collecting grib files has the pactor software installed within it so it is only a matter of making the right selection.
