P&O Fastcat this is Nimrod Aircraft

Last week crossing the channel on Ch 16 we heard "FastCat this is Nimrod aircraft" - channel 10 please - - then "for your information we would like to take pictures of you as part of an exercise".

P&O replied but the Nimrod didn't hear them!

Various attempts to communicate followed with lots of "nothing heard" from P&O.

So much for the fine communications of the RAF!!

the Nimrod was requesting ch10 - we could hear the ferry - the Nimrod didn't! They are supposed to hear EVERYTHING!

Out of interest, I thought that marine radio aerials were designed to radiate the signal horizontally, not vertically. Maybe the Nimrod should have come down lower to pick up the response?

Of course we would then have postings saying "I was buzzed by a Nimrod the other day"!
