I've been told, (in my local Pub) , that there is a bi annual get together of Oyster owners, this July, in Cowes. As a proud owner of the smallest Oyster (26 feet), I was wondering as to how I can get an invite
As the owner of a Lightwave 395, I've been mailed invites to these things since I got on their mailing list by talking to Oyster brokerage about selling the boat. Unfortunately I think I've binned the paper, but why not just phone them up, they're only human!, they seem to acknowledge the older boats, even if they have now moved out of that market.
The only problem is if all the other boats are 50ft, you'll either win by miles on rating, or still be out there when the beer runs out, depending on the tide. (assuming you were going to race).
Just don't let them sell you a new boat (unless you're loaded!)
The Oyster Regatta, hosted by the Royal Yacht Squadron, comprises four days of cruising, racing and socialising in Solent waters for Oyster yachts, their owners and crews. Racing will be run by the RYS, using the club's famous starting and finishing lines"
Looks like there should be some info here eventually.
