Oyster 17

As the recent new owner of a 1978 17 foot Oyster GRP with a Yanmar powered 9.9HP Diesel inboard and shaft drive I'm interested in tracing the original manfacturer - if they still exist - to try and source some extra's (front screen on top of cuddy cabin etc).

Does anybody know any details - the boat was originally supplied by Mermaid Leisure somewhere in Cornwall.

Don't know if it's the same Oyster,but the ones I know were 16' open or cuddy boats (the cuddy is often extended by owners) available i/b or o/b versions. If yours looks like the one here: http://www.southwoodham-marine.co.uk/stockpages/oyster1.htm then it's probably the same thing.........These were made by Wood Marine Ltd of Hayling Island (at least in 1973 they were,I have an advert in an old PBO)

Many thanks for the reply - I have been scouring the web unsuccessfully until now to find some reference to the boat.

I just need to find someone who could fabricate a small screen to go on top of the cuddy cabin to allow me to put a proper cover over the seating area for use in british summer time - and allow me to still see out. Being a inboard with rear tiller the view can be a bit obscured at times.....
