Last night's TVR quiz at the Windsor Yacht Club turned out to be a successful one for the intrepid Oxford Ditch team. Up against nine other teams from Bray, Harleyford and Windsor the Ditch held a miniscule lead at the half time break.

Following supper, another fiendish set of questions saw the team thrash the opposition by two points. Well done Pheran and gang.

The event raised almost £500 to go towards putting on the Thames Valley Rally in Henley over the May Bank Holiday.

Gosh! What happened to the policy of deliberately losing so that you didn't have to host the event next year ?

Anyway. Hearty congratulations :)

Pity you had to raise that! Last year we timed it nicely, coming second by just one point. This year we were just a small contingent, and I suppose we lost that hint of mediocrity that sheer numbers inevitably give you. A case of 'Never mind the width, feel the quality' We might have won by an even greater margin, but the expected questions on soft porn and dog racing on which Clive was expected to shine never materialised!

Nice to see Brayman there although he was batting for the other side.
Errr....I probably mean playing for another club!!:D:D

How could Bray fail to win with No Regrets on the team? He knows everything doesn't he?

I had heard rumours of Brayman batting for the other side, but had discounted them.

I bet he drank the bar dry again!

Yet again No Regrets didn't turn up so we were obviously lacking, but not by much, the Bray Brainiacs weren't far behind the winning team.

It's about time the Ditch came out of hiding and showed their true worth.
Better watch out for them at the Rally Boathandling I reckon.

Just as well I didn't turn up, then. My superior intellect would undoubtedly have led to a BCC win which was clearly not at all desirable.

Actually, sorry we didn't make it - intentions were good but a wearying week finally caught up with me and we opted for a dvd of Boston Legal.

Yeah it's a shame, we needed an old fart for the history questions.
You know, someone that was there when it happened....

Sheesh...some of us work on Saturdays...!

Good to see the masterplan worked, second place, hence no hosting in 2011.

Always happy to shoulder the blame though. Guess Pheran's public school was better than Bray's finest! LOL

all to plan...

Actually, I think it went exactly to plan. Bray came in a close second (1.5 points?) and also 4th I believe. So no having to set the questions next year, while still looking semi inteligent!

We had an almost clean sweep of the raffle prizes though - something like 6 out of 8 prizes went to Bray.

And almost a clean sweep of the free food too....(embarassed to say it was my little urchins that have the "look hungry" look off to a fine tee...

Wasn't going to mention that but since you did...not sure what was most embarrasing, that you had the free food or that other members kept feeling the need to go and get it and offer it to your little ones...

Did you manage to get home without stopping off for a MacD's for once?
