Oxalic acid

In what form, powder or liquid?

I would have automatically have said you are chancing it with a liquid, any liquid, but if its a powder who is to know - unless you want to carry 20kg. Why not buy the acid at the destination. If you turn up at an airport with liquid acid I'd suggest they will throw up their hands in horror (for which I have some sympathy) and the fines for you to then simply tip it down a drain do not make the exercise very sensible and no-ome at the airport will want to take your acid under their wing..

If you cannot buy oxalic acid at the destination then consider why you want the acid - if its for removing a brown stains on gel coat then oxalic is a good option but for minor rust marks other acids will suffice and surely you can buy hydrochloric or sulphuric acids as they are commonly used to clean bricks, drains of fill batteries.

I think carry a packet of white powder in your luggage is going to go a bit wrong, as neeves suggests buy it when you land

Of course if you want to make friends with airport staff you could unpick the lining in your suitcase . stash the powder Andrew it up . If you get stopped you can always say you have noidea how it got there . I understand thats a good believable get out reply .

Clearly label the package. Oxalic acid and citric acid should not violate the rules. I have packed similar materials (chemical engineer that does a lot of field work).

Limit the quanitity. TSA (US) has a limit of 12 ounces on powders in checked bags, and many materials you cannot take, including fertilizers. The limit is 4 ounce in carry-on. But I could be wrong and check! Solutions also have limits, and are trickier to pack (checked baggage sees a BIG pressure swing).
