For those of you on the UK SSR - just in case you have missed the email the "Small Ships Register" is being Digitised and if you already have your Boat registered with the SSR it will NOT be automatically transferred to the new database - YOU MUST MAKE AN ACCOUNT AND CLAIM your registration.

The new SSR website is here:-
https://ukshipregister.service.mcga.gov.uk
you will need several documents to make a claim:-
your original SSR certificate - Photo or PDF
Your Passport or Driving Licence - Photo or PDF
Your Boats purchase invoice - must be in your name OR a valid Certificate of Insurance for your boat and/or a "Declaration of Eligibility"

this last one got me stumped for a while as I had the documents but they were on the boat and a couple of hours away....

The Eligibility Declaration requires a form that is only referenced in the youtube video about the process -
Form MSF4731 - this can be downloaded from HERE:-
Declaration of eligibility MSF 4731

best of luck - I am still waiting for the process to be finalised by the SSR team....

Read the details carefully ...

This is the new online registration system in its Beta test phase for NEW registrations

There is as yet no provision for handling renewals or amendments (other than by email)

There is no stated need for any action regarding existing valid registrations

Yes applies to any existing registrations BEFORE 2020 that were made on the OLD system...
Boats registered online since 2020 would already be on the new database... ( can't remember which month )

Does appear so from the video, absolutely no mention of any current action required anywhere on the website(s)

I suspect this is because it's still a Beta service with only a limited number of existing registered owners emailed. The rest of us will get the word when it goes fully live

I can't help, by the by, but be suspicious that they've set up a .co.uk address for the register. Smells of potential privatisation

Just for clarification, I trust this means older registrations. We did ours digitally a few months ago, and having logged in, I cannot see anything I need to do.

Yet it's still asking me to do it. Registration date 11/10/2021

I've just renewed by post. No documentation needed - except the old certificate. I had to pay on the web-site, though.
They give you the option to send your old certificate, which I did.
The old certificate came back immediately via return post with a note telling me I should have sent a scan of the original.
