Having now retired SWMBO and I have more time and hope to be at least part time liveaboards in the Med from next year but if not to spend much more time afloat here. We have a boat here, a Moody 346, and sail regularly with our son but up to now it's been restricted by work to weekends and the odd week now and again.. I did Day Skipper theory and practice a few years ago but confess that I've rather let my son get on with it and tend to sit back and enjoy the ride. He is very competent. I'll helm, help with sail handling etc and I really enjoy the navigation and passage planning. My wife sits back to an even greater extent. She'd now like to do the Competent Crew course and I would benefit from a refresher. I've probably lost a bit of confidence because I have let him do the more difficult bits. It makes sense to do it on our boat so any recommendations for own boat tuition in the Solent area would be much appreciated. I also wonder whether the course can be completed in less than the usual 5 days if it's our boat and there are only 2 of us onboard. Most tutors seem to charge on a daily basis so if the syllabus can be covered in less time but more intensively it makes financial sense.
