Overwinter NE Greece/N Turkey

Heading East in our 42foot sailing boat from Thessalonika early September,looking to haul out for the winter further east,preferably not too far from an airport.Happy to hear recommendations from any one who already been there.........Please!!

Finike is nice.......... We didn't haul out there because that wasn't the time but the facilities are good, it's a nice place to be and there is quite a community of cruisers and liveaboards there. I think it's about an hour from Antalya Airport.

HOWEVER....... Should you need to order anything and get it sent to Turkey, Turkish Customs are a nightmare. Whatever you order will get as far as Istanbul and then be held in Customs......... You will have to employ an agent to get it out at around $300 and then pay the duty on top of that........ They have never heard of "yacht in transit"! I ordered a few charts from the UK and the cost of getting them out of Customs would have been nearly twice the cost of the charts plus p&p so they are still in Customs at Istanbul. If there is any danger of having to get anything sent out, you might do better to find somewhere in Greece which is in the EU so the problem doesn't arise.

Thanks for suggestion,but too far south for this winter.Will file away cautionary info re spares access for future reference!

We stayed a couple of nights in the new marina in Sigacik www.teosmarina.net . It was formally opened this year and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. They were,and still might be, offering very attractive prices for long term berthing as they were trying to build up a customer base. The place is very well appointed,nice loos etc and is just adjacent to the village centre,...good eateries etc.
It is about 25-30 miles southwest from Izmir ,there is a regular bus service.
