We have had our lovely little 21' ballerina on the medway for a month now, and have enjoyed pottering about and finding out how stuff works. The tides at the moment would suit us staying overnight on the boat (horrible haul with the dinghy at low tide) but I'm worried about the dogs.
They have sailed in the broads, but there are always places to stop for a quick wee. Does anyone sail the Medway with dogs?

Humm Gillingham and Upnor foreshore used to be OK place to row ashore (or even beach up) to walk one's dogs and exercise them, but not done that in quite a while now So ?

I assume you mean at low water? There are a couple of places in Stangate creek where you can get ashore at low tide with a dingy where the rocks go down to the low water line, but dogs, dinghy and walker do get smothered in mud. You also need to be careful to keep to the edge and don't go far due to nesting birds.
There are, unfortunately, very few opportunities to get ashore at LW in the Medway.

Not many places eh?

What what has happened to the Upnor foreshore, along from the Upnor Yacht Club then ?

I regularly beached up and took my dog for a walk, either into Upnor Village for provisions pluss a drink at a Pub or similarly beached up on the Gillingham Strand foreshore walked the dog then visited the Gill Chandlery for a 'looksee' and wandered into Gillingham Town Centre to eat or buy provisions there. Was time to walk back in time to float off on the tide.

Both The foreshores at Upnor and Gillingham Strand were all states of the tide landing places, shingle / sand what has changed then ?

Thanks Concerto, we will look at venturing to queenborough.

Capt Popeye, we sail from Segas and although you can technically land at most states of the tide, unless its high water we seem to get covered in mud. Also I'm not too confident about taking the dinghy out in the dark. Also, There are lots of jetskiers around the strand who were very interested in my outboard and I don't want to leave it while I walk the dogs. Will try Upnor though, thank you.

Paul rainbow, after some googling to see what other people do we are going to try carpet on the "poop deck" :)
