Hi Everyone,

"Cookie Jar" is about to get a new coat of paint on the topsides and I have enough paint to give it 3 coats, but reading through the instructions (TOPLAC, one component) and my temperature conditions, it says:

Touch Dry: 2hrs
Overcoat: Min 8hrs Max 2 days

Does this mean that I really have to wait 8hrs between each coat?
Couldn't it be done after is "touch dry"? Could you please guide me through this?
I'm just not understanding the need to wait so much time if the paint is already "touch dry" after 2 hours

Thanks!

Does not understanding precisely how oxygen combines with haemoglobin cause you to question the need to breathe?
I imagine it's something to do with the volatile components which constitute about half the volume of the paint.

Or just resign yourself to the knowledge that no follow instructions = no warranty.
Good luck.

I often wonder why manufacturers go to the trouble of researching the best way of using their products, and then giving clear instructions.

as this is air drying paint if you dont allow it to dry thoroughly the next layer may cause the undercoat to wrinkle because the volatile component of the first coat of paint cant escape. also you may find the odd run or imperfection that you want to sand down between coats which you cant do if its just touch dry.

Thank you very much Freebee!
Your reply made it clear.

As for the other previous two... whenever you gentlemen read an instruction label on a language that is not your own and post a genuine question in here or somewhere else, I (also genuinely) hope you will get a similar "wise a..." answer.

Thanks again Freebee.

I salute your facility with your second (or third...?) language.
And I did offer two perfectly legitimate and polite responses to a question which, given that facility, can only be regarded as a lot dumber than you.
