Over wintering options

Thinking of maybe lifting out in Autumn somewhere between Whitby and Newcastle and I am looking for recommendations so that I can develop an outline plan for the summer. Criteria is not too expensive, reasonably close to habitation pubs, shops etc, fair security, a that does not mind owners on board for several days, electricity & water, ok with DIY repairs. A bonus would be somewhere really pleasant and not too far from a railway station (which means I can go on my own and not leave wifey carless).

Thanks I will look it up-never been to the NE. Not too bad a drive from E Cheshire.

Buy a cheap van. It will probably cost you less than the train fares overall, give you independence, carry your tools, materials, whatever and allow you to go off and get the inevitable things you need that you forgot to take with you. Boat maintenance and public transport doesn't work!
