Ooops, sorry Adrian, I remember them having awful problems and I thought they had planned to follow you at least on the way out.
For the mention on this thread though, your Targa 52 is exactly the RIGHT type of offshore cruiser for channel crossings... 28 knots easy cruising and able to go there and back on a tank full in comfort!

Now do I understand Adrian decided to stay put in France as he considered the conditions were not family friendly in his 52 ft boat and a 27ft boat cast off ,
If I took my wife out against advice and got a pounding I think it would be divorce , part of been a skilled skipper is knowing how the crew will enjoy the trip so they want to go again.

I wonder if anybody could advise me. I am thinking about buying a boat, can you tell me how much they cost? I would like a white one.

I can tell from your post that you are not ready for a white one you idiot, you need an RYA course first and then you will be ready to make an informed choice

Despite postings to the contrary, the 805 is perfectly capable of crossing the channel. Plenty of them have done the trip.
All it takes is sensible planning, careful attention to the weather etc. Due to the relatively small fuel tank, coast hopping and crossing at the narrow bit makes sense. It'll take an hour and a half to cross in decent weather, if it turns nasty half way, there'd only be 10 miles to suffer.
We've done many coastal trips of 30 or so miles each way in ours. Done a couple of weekend trips of 120 miles or so round trip. Also done a 150 mile run along the East coast from the river Nene to Shotley in Suffolk when we moved marina. We think nothing of venturing 10-15 miles out for a days fishing and wouldn't worry at all about gong further for some deep water wreck fishing in a few weeks time.
Usual caveats regarding weather, planning, equipment, experience etc apply to the crew.
