Outdrives ! Who’s idea was it ?

They where actually invented in Italy during World War I and evolved during WWII. with a patent being registered in 1936 by Pietro Baglietto.
During the sacking of WWII the Americans has a Mas with this outdrives, who was viewed and inspected by Jim Wynn, who sold the idea to Volvo which launched the original stern drive in 1960.

The Devil being at a bit of loose end after being cast out on that big marina in the skies thought long and hard how to spread poverty and despair over the planet.
Something mechanical, fiendishly and unnecessarily complicated and preferably made from materials that do not get on well with each other or that matter that most common of elements, water.
Human nature being what it is , it was merely a matter of time, the really cunning bit, reinvent it again with added extra problems and advertise it as being the answer to all those annoying little problems that boating throws up like ..............mooring.
