Can Volvo prices get any worse!
Been qouted £59 yes £59! for 3 litres of " you must use this" synthetic gear oil, anyone know a cheaper substitute.

Depending on what drive you have, I've been using quick silver outdrive oil for ages, same spec half the price, worst case of volvo price hicking i've come across was for my starter motor at £435, the same bosch unit at my local motor spares shop was £95, and before people start saying spark protected the only difference is the solinoid which takes 2 bolts to swap. i find that if you go to your local car spares or truck spares outlet you can normally pick up the parts at half the price, but then thats boating

Barry is right, Quicksilver synthetic is fine. Don't use ordinary EP gear oil designed for cars, as outdrive oil has special additives to stop oil emulsifying if water gets in.
