My outdrive leg is giving problems

Comes up out of the water fine

Takes forever to go back down, moving very slowly accompanied by a sort of rumbling noise.

Has recently been taken off and put back on at the local boatyard in order to replace the transopm bearing.

Might I be correct in my guess that they've failed to bleed the hydraulics when they've reconnected the hoses and that there is some air in the system ??

What else could it be >

I >think< the hydraulics are self bleeding??? Agree that it sounds like you may have further problems but was it OK after the recent work or did it act up like this from that point?

There is no need to disconnect the hydraulics to replace the transom bearing so would be suspicious if they have disconnected them for any reason.

You should have said its a BMW drive Tony, definately not been bleed properly, the rumbling is air in the system. If you read the manual it gives the procedure.
It will bleed itself eventualy, coming up as you say no problem but try standing on it when going down this will force the air through quicker, do this 6 times and it will be ok, don't forget to top up at the same time though same DII as the outdrive.
