Outdrive model identification plz

Double check you have the blanking plate installed first, look at the back of the engine and right above the driveshaft there should be a black oval plate with two bolts on the insude if the transom frame, if there is a hose connected to a fitting check where it goes. It will be connected into the hose from the skin fitting, if so do not cut the external hose.
Having established you have a blanking plate then trim the drive up and cut 2 inches out of the big hose on the lefthand side taking care not to cut the speedo pitot hose or trim sender wire which are usually clipped to it.
I wish I’d had quality advice like this before I blew my outdrive up. ?

I will try to modestly say I have worked on Volvo and Mercruiser engines and drives for the past 26 yrs and along the way have learned a lot either from factory courses or reading the books and from other people. We are always learning as there is always something new, I also do a lot of work on Mercury,Yamaha, Suzuki and Evinrude outboards and it seems every month there is something new. This year Mercury launched its 600 hp V12 outboard which has lots of new features to get to grips with. I am a glutton for learning new technology so it stops the old brain from seizing up, I don’t know everything but am more than happy to pass on what I have learned and what I have found works through experience.
