No one? Thought this would have been a 'must have tool' for engineers / mechanics.

I'll keep Googling

Lots of these in the US. There was a UK company producing something a few years back. Website seems to be dead now. Was called leg mate, and not too cheap IIRC

Just looking at the link I posted. Even if postage was $100 it still wouldn't be all that expensive.

Try looking for a “commercial vehicle wheel lifter” would be quite easy to
Convert / adapt a second hand one.

Indeed it wouldn't be hard to fabricate with a car jack as a winding mechanism. You might get away with a pair of trolley jacks with a lump of wood on top, one jack either side of the outdrive. Shame about shipping costs as the 200 dollars is very cheap

If you think a commercial vehicle wheel lifter will do the job let me know as I have one surplus to requirements.
I can send you some pictures if it helps.

Many thanks. Ideally i'm looking for an 'out of box' solution. However, pics wouldn't do any harm... if it wasn't an overly-large piece of equipment, I could just fabricate a fork to take the out-drive.

2 things to consider when buying from the states - import duty and if the seller uses a courier like fed ex DHL ups then generally you get hit with a UK handling charge as well.
Easy to make especially if you have an engine stand to modify

Please see attached pictures.
Apologies they are not upright as I cant figure out how to get them to sit up .
Also had 2 x more pictures but could not load as computer said no.
The handle and pump for up and down of the black arms within the red frame is at the back.
If you think might be of use let me know

I found a company at the Paris boat show that manufacture outdrive jacks. Unfortunately they would not quote me a price as they are 'trade only' but if you own a company or have a mate who does then they should talk to you
www.imnasa.com they have two models to choose from.
