Outdrive antifoul - Black or grey ? Is there a performance difference.

Hi all, our new to us boat came last season with black antifoul on the outdrives, casual observations while walking down pontoons suggest grey is more popular. Is this just a choice or do we believe there is a fouling performance difference? Having just lifted I have been surprised by the amount of tube worm (Hamble/Poole based) on the drives so has got me thinking. Views appreciated.

I did read something on here recently where a guy said he noticed white antifouled hulls appeared to last longer than other colours !

I imagine there is a performance difference based on the type of fouling you experience. I noticed on my boot top different colours attract different growth types. Black for a green filament type weed and white gets a brown diatom slime. Barnacles go where ever they can stick and mussels just love intakes, thru hulls and deep crevasses where I am.

Thanks for the feedback, guess I will stick with black for another season then compare with others, as its really the tube worm causing the problem rather than slime/weed. In the meantime I will check the tin wording .

Went white once, looked great for a month or two so now black everytime
So what if your canopies are blue? The anti foul is under the water!

My outdrive is painted white and the props black, much better than when it was all grey, but I suspect that's more to do with changing brands from trilux to Seajet.
