I noticed yesterday afternoon that the tank was leaking fuel from the hose connector. I presume the pressure dropped during the night and drew in air then when it warmed up the pressure rose forcing the liquid fuel out from the valve. Its the clip on mercury type.
I opened the vent as a stop gap but can these be serviced?

Are you talking about a leak from the the fuel line connector for a remote tank then it may be possible to replace the O ring inside it otherwise replace the connector. ( in one sentence you refer to the hose connector but in another you refer to the valve)
I dont know if this is an option with Mercs.
If it is leaking fuel it is also likely to allow air to enter when running, which will ultimately lead to the engine conking out due to lack of fuel.

If replacing the connector be aware that not only are there various type for Mercs but other makes which look very similar but which won't fit properly. Order the part specifically for your engine, quoting the HP and serial number.
Also be sure to buy a genuine part or a reputable brand of aftermarket parts.
