I read in the manual that the hydraulics on the tilt system are under pressure when the outboard is down so is it ok to store my boat in this condition as it fits my garage better. Also how long do you guys recommend 2 stroke fuel is ok left in the tank. THANKS TO YOU ALL FOR A GREAT FORUM!

Store down with the tilt rams retracted.

Drain the old fuel out and run the engine till it stops (with fresh water running through of course).

Fuel goes off over time as the volatile elements evaporate and you may well be left with a tanl full of what looks and burns like cold tea.

Also the lubricity of premixed 2 stroke oil falls rapidly after mixing with petrol. You should really use fresh premix on a weekly basis, although no-one does and we all seem to get away with it.

I have a 5hp Tohatsu - I use mine v little and it gernerally lurks in the bottom of the laz for months on end. A gallon lasts me 2 years so I think a lot of us do get away with all sorts. But I agree you should try and run the petrol out of the carb if you are leaving it any time.
