Outboard stolen - Felixstowe Ferry last night

We had our really nice little 2HP Yamaha pinched from our dinghy while the crew popped to FFSC for a drink last night. It was locked on but not in a way that would have stopped them for long. The police know but I doubt they will do anything. Any information gratefully received...

Sadly I guess we will have to take more care with our next engine... And/or spend less time ashore in the evening supporting local hostelries/ sailing clubs.

More importantly - any suggestions on where to buy a very light 2 stroke engine?

Really sorry to hear about this. We landed there a couple of weeks ago but it was lunchtime and really busy, so I tied the boat up on the slipway right beside the queue for the ferry and hoped that it would be OK, as indeed it turned out to be.
You can't of course buy new 2-strokes any more, you can only look on the second-hand market which sadly I suppose means you could end up unwittingly being offered a nicked one.

A friend bought a new 2 stroke from Mainbryce in Alderney. I think they can ship legally to the UK and usually carry stock? http://mainbrayce.co.uk/two-stroke-tohatsu-outboards/

Again sorry to hear about this. The other weekend we had a visit from two chaps from the Boarder Force at the club. They were just passing and saw our gate open so came in for a look around. They were asking if we ever saw anything suspicious etc. then went on to say that there is a problem with Eastern Europeans stealing outboard and loading them into vans and driving straight to the ports. Even if the Boarder Force stop them they can't do anything as they can't prove they are stolen. The owner probably isn't aware and hasn't reported it stolen. The original serial numbers are on the engines but if they haven't been reported they can't prevent it being taken abroad.
