Outboard servicing.

It is unlikely that any dealer would routinely change the impellor included in the service price. You could ask though.

As mentioned, might as well do the service yourself.

I work on OBs quite often and always change the impeller if it's an engine I've not seen before. For the little it costs it's daft not to. If nothing else, it means the bolts that hold on the leg are lubricated.

I'm not touting for business here, so mods, please remove if deemed I'm breaking the rules, but I can service your OB. PM me if you're interested.

Having thought about the economics of small outboards, I adopted the following approach.
Bought a new Yamaha 2.5 4st 15 years ago for about £550ish.
It worked faultlessly for about 8 years with just an occasional oil change (twice)
Year 9 needed a carb clean. Learnt how to DIY.
Still got it and it still works with an annual carb clean. (Same plug, same impellor) oh and some new Yamaha stickers for the cowl, a new filler cap, and a fuel tank filter. ( I can strip an F2.5a in the same time some people can do a Lee Enfield now :) )
So, the moral is, buy a new one, do no servicing, save £100 a year for six years, then bin it after six years and buy a new one with the money saved.....well, keep it actually and just make sure you flush the salt water out and drain the carb. :)

This is not an approach I adopt for the inboard I hasten to add! That gets whatever it needs!
