So my old 2 stroke 125hp mariner/Mercury is having some issues, a month ago I replaced the rectifier/regulator owing to it leaking it’s cooling oil (it’s 23 years old) as the encapsulating membrane had cracked and the two yellow a/c wires looked as if they had been getting too hot. Fast forward a month and I’ve got no charge voltage to the starter battery and very poor running replaced the stator as this is original too, still no voltage. Is it likely the original stator failed and took out the second regulator and I’m presuming if the reg fails the coils won’t be getting sufficient current to spark?
