Outboard paintwork

I should be grateful for advice concerning repairs to the paintwork on my Mercury outboard. There are several bare patches on the cast ali parts, particularly the lower leg and control handle. How should I prepare the metal? What primer, undercoat and paint should I use? Suppliers? Also can I obtain new transfers?

To help prevent it being stolen just paint on some contrasting houshold paint. The paint will still do the job of protecting the metal but any self-respecting thief will shy away from such an awful looking outboard.
