I'm currently refurbishing a Wayfarer Mk 2 and want to fit an outboard for harbour work etc. I've got an old Seagull Forty Plus which suits the boat well. I've test mounted the motor on the transom (where it appears that a motor may have been mounted before. The bracket sits perfectly in the drain well, the fibreglass is solid here, and there is room for a block of wood to spread the load of the fitting screws. Provided I am careful with the rudder, is this an ok place to mount the motor? It does look as though a lower mounting on an offset block might make the outboard tiller foul the transom of the boat.
Thanks,
Nigel
