Hi

I have no idea if this it the right place to post this but in the absence of anything better I will give it a try - my first ever post on this side of the forums as I am normally in the PBO side of things

I am selling an outboard that I own, a buyer (well 2 actually) are lined up but I have no idea exactly what price to charge for it - does anyone know how you can find out what an outboard is worth? This is a genuine question and I am not looking to sell it on these forums. I bought it on ebay and so do not know if I paid over or under the odds.

It is a 4 stroke 9.9hp Mercury from 1999 which starts first time everytime and has just been serviced

if this is the wrong place to ask (which I fear it is) does anyone know anywhere else to ask this question e.g. a fishing forum or similar?

Try calling several of the larger reputable retailers, and ask how much would a person expect to pay (retail) for your particular year model OB, in whatever condition, say, average, good or excellent.

To be realistic you have to beat that price because of the wholesale nature of the deal and you're not offering any warranty or come-back of any kind.
